GPS Data on the VIRB Ultra 30 and VIRB 360

When recording GPS data during use, both the VIRB® Ultra 30 and VIRB® 360 will record this data at a rate of 10 hertz (Hz) and 1Hz simultaneously. GPS location is recorded more frequently at 10Hz, so 10Hz data will appear more accurate than 1Hz data. This may be reflected in some of the camera's G-Metrix data, as many G-Metrix fields are based on GPS data.

Many mapping applications may not be capable of reading the 10Hz GPS data file from the VIRB. In this case, the 1Hz GPS data will be used instead. This will result in the data appearing less accurate or less "smooth". To view the 10Hz GPS data from the VIRB Ultra 30 or VIRB 360, Garmin’s VIRB Edit software should be used. This software is free and can be downloaded from the Garmin website here.
