Install Maps to Garmin Devices using MapSource

There are many situations where it may be desirable to install additional maps to a Garmin GPS. MapSource® software should only be used when working with outdoor handhelds that use a serial port connection to a computer. Newer handhelds that use a USB computer connection should use BaseCamp™ software.

MapSource software is available for Windows only1 and can be downloaded for free from the MapSource page of the Garmin website. MapSource software cannot be installed on your computer without a previous version of maps already on the computer.
