How to Calibrate the Touchscreen on the Approach G3, G5, G6 or G7

The Approach® G3, G5, G6 and G7 golf handhelds allow direct interaction with buttons and items shown on the screen. If touches are not being accepted or are activating the wrong items, the device may need calibration. Calibrating the screen will allow the Approach device to fine tune the input it receives from the touchscreen.

To Calibrate the Approach G3 or G5 Handheld Touchscreen:

  1. Power On the Approach
  2. Touch the wrench icon
  3. Touch Calibrate Screen1
  4. Continuously press the dot until the Calibration is complete message
  5. Touch OK

To Calibrate the Approach G6 or G7 Handheld Touchscreen:

  1. Touch Setup
  2. Touch Display
  3. Touch Calibrate Screen
  4. Continuously press the dot until the Calibration is complete message
  5. Touch OK

If the touchscreen is inoperable, a manual calibration may be needed.


To Manually Calibrate the Approach G3 or G5 Handheld:

  1. Power the device off  
  2. Press and hold the Power button until the Press the dot message appears (about 30 seconds)
  3. Press each dot until the Calibration is complete message appears
  4. Touch OK

To Manually Calibrate the Approach G6 or G7 Handheld:

  1. Power the device off
  2. Press and hold the Green button
  3. Power the device on
  4. Continue holding the Green button until the Press the dot message appears (about 30 seconds)
  5. Touch OK

Once either calibration method is complete, the Approach handheld will begin to acquire satellites and be ready for use.


1 If the Calibrate Screen option is not in the Setup menu, update the software by running Garmin Express™, which will update the mapping and firmware in the device.
