Alpha 200 Plus or Alpha 300 Series Not Staying Bluetooth Connected to the Alpha App
If you are having trouble getting the Alpha® 200 Plus, Alpha 300, or Alpha 300i dog tracking handheld to stay connected to the Alpha Mobile app, there are a few things to look for.
Check That the Bluetooth for the Alpha Handheld Is Turned On
Make Sure the Software on the Alpha Handheld Is Up to Date
- Use Garmin Express™ software from a computer, which will automatically check for and install available software updates.

Check For and Install Any Available Updates for Your Phone
- Consult your phone manufacturer for assistance if needed.
Miscellaneous Items to Check
- Make sure that Airplane Mode is turned off on your mobile device.
- Select Devices in the Alpha Mobile app and verify that the Alpha 300 handheld shows Connected.
Troubleshooting Steps for Connection Issues
Attempt unpairing and pairing the two devices again.
- Select Forget Phone in the Bluetooth Settings of the Alpha handheld.
- Navigate to the Main Menu on the Alpha handheld.
- Select Setup.
- Select Bluetooth.
- Select Forget Phone.
- Select Yes.
- Select Remove Device in the Garmin Devices section of the Alpha Mobile app.
- Select device.
- Select 3 dots in upper right corner.
- Select Remove Device.
- Forget the Alpha handheld in the Bluetooth Settings of your phone or tablet.
- Consult your phone manufacture for assistance if needed
- Restart both the Alpha handheld and the phone or tablet.
- Pair the Alpha handheld back to your mobile device in the Alpha Mobile app.
