Troubleshooting a Handheld or Wearable Device that Powers Off During Startup
If a Garmin handheld or wearable device is powering off during startup, there may be a corrupt or unrecognized file causing the problem.
To Resolve this Issue
- Remove any microSD cards stored in device. Corrupt data or incompatible mapping on cards may prevent proper boot up by device.
- Update the device's software.*
- If using a mass storage device delete the GPX folder and/or Activities folder from the unit.*
- Perform a master reset on the device. Instructions can be found on the Garmin Support page.
Performing the steps above should remove any corrupt GPX files and allow device to power on successfully.
*If the computer does not recognize device, it may be necessary to troubleshoot the connection before some steps can be performed. See related content for further instructions.
