Getting Started with the Pro 550 Plus

Before you head out to train with your Pro 550 Plus for the first time it's important to make sure that you have charged your system and have a good GPS fix for your location. A GPS fix for both the Pro 550 Plus handheld and any paired collars is necessary to use the training functions of your system. This system is not designed to be used indoors for prolonged periods of time without acquiring a GPS fix and timing.

Charging Your System

Make sure both the handheld and the collar(s) are fully charged. Products containing Lithium-Ion batteries are purposely shipped with less than a full charge. 

Charging the Handheld

  • Charging may take 3-4 hours.
  • Charge the device at room temperature. 

Charging the Collar

  • Solid red LED indicates the collar is charging. 
  • Solid green LED indicates the collar is fully charged.
  • Charge the device at room temperature.

Pairing Your System

You are able to pair up to 3 dogs to the Pro 550 Plus. 

To start ensure that your collar is compatible with the Pro 550 Plus. 

Compatible Dog Collars

Pairing

  1. Make Sure collars are unplugged and powered off. 
  2. On the handheld:
    1. Select the color you want to pair the collar to. You have the options of black, red or blue. The top toggle on face of the handheld will control which color you are associating your dog collar to.
    2. Turn the Dial to N. 
    3. Select the green tone button. 
    4. From the options menu select Pair Collar.
      • The green tone button is the button you will use to select an option. 
    5. Select Dog Type by choosing from the following options:
      • Auto
      • Treeing
      • Pointing
    6. The handheld will say "Wait for Collar" 
  3. On the Dog collar:
    1. Press and Hold the power button on the compatible dog collar to put it into pairing mode. You will hear two loud beeps emit from the dog collar. 
  4. A check mark will appear on the handheld indicating the collar has been paired.

The Pro 550 Plus has various options to customize the handheld and dog collar to better fit your needs. 

Pairing your Pro 550 Plus to Compatible Garmin Devices

You can broadcast your dog information to Garmin watches, Tread Overlander series and more. 

Maintaining your Device

Software updates are released periodically to ensure the device is communicating properly with the dog collars and maintaining communication with the satellites.
