Third-Party Antennas on Garmin Chartplotters
Garmin chartplotters are designed to use Garmin antennas. It is not recommended that any antenna manufactured by another company be used with a Garmin system.
Garmin offers antennas that can be purchased if a replacement is needed.
For chartplotters which use a BNC connection for a GPS antenna, such as the GPSMAP 4xx and 5xx series, the GA 38 antenna is the recommended replacement.
For chartplotters which use a NMEA 0183 or serial GPS antenna, such as the GPSMAP 2xxx and 3xxx series, the GPS 19x HVS antenna or the GPS 24xd NMEA 0183 is the recommended replacement.
For chartplotters which use a NMEA 2000 antenna, such as the GPSMAP 4xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx series, the GPS 19x NMEA 2000 antenna or the GPS 24xd NMEA 2000 is the recommended replacement.
NOTE: Always check antenna and chartplotter compatibility before purchasing a replacement antenna.
