Navionics Boating: Why Are the Satellite Overlay Images Limited to Certain Areas?

The Satellite Overlay images cover areas within two miles of the shoreline and some shallow water areas. Satellite Imagery offers the same topdown aerial images from the Navionics Platinum+™ product sources. Imagery on water will displace any shading in the lowest zoom ranges.  The Satellite Overlay images on land and in shallow water areas provides full visibility on the Navionics® charts: depth contours, spot soundings, text etc.
