Garmin Dash Cam Power Issues, Frozen, or Not Powering On
Check the Following if a Garmin Dash Cam Won't Power On or is Having Power Issues, Freezes, or Experiences Freezing During Recording:
Ensure the vehicle power cable that came with the camera is being used
Ensure the vehicle power cable is plugged directly into a 12V power outlet or cigarette lighter outlet in the vehicle, rather than through a splitter or straight into a USB port
Update the camera software
See the owner’s manual for instructions
If the vehicle is hot, allow it to cool down before plugging in the Dash Cam
See Charging Factors for an Automotive Device for more information about temperature.
Check the light on the end of the vehicle power cable and make sure it is lit
If the cable does not light up, try a different vehicle
If the cable still does not light up, see Replacing the Fuse in an Automotive Vehicle Power Cable
Connect the device to a power source with its Vehicle Power Cable
Press and hold the power button and slowly count to 30
An A/C adapter may also be used, but if the problem persists, the Vehicle Power Cable will need to be used
- Remove the installed memory card, then press and hold the power button and slowly count to 30. If the camera displays a memory card error message, reinstall the memory card. If the issue persists, install a new memory card.
