Installing and Pairing the Tread App

The Tread® app is a free smartphone application allowing you to connect the Tread® device and a compatible smartphone to add additional live features to your Garmin device through your phone's existing mobile data plan, such as weather, traffic, and more.

Contact your mobile service provider for more information about your service plan’s data and roaming rates.

NOTE: There is no limit to the number of navigation devices you can pair to the Tread app, but only one can be connected at a time.

To Install and Setup the Tread app on an Apple Device:

1. Open the Tread app on your phone and set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable mode

    • Refer to the owner's manual for your phone if you are not sure how to set it to Find Me/Discoverable mode

2. Touch Settings (gear wheel icon) on the Garmin device

3. Touch Wireless Networks

4. Check the box next to Bluetooth if it is unchecked

5. Touch Pair a Device in the Tread app

6. Touch the name of the Garmin device from the list of compatible Bluetooth devices in the area

7. Touch Yes, if prompted on the Garmin device

8. Touch Pair on the phone, if prompted

9. Enter the passkey listed on your Tread if prompted by your phone

10. Touch Sign In. Touch Create Account if you don't have an account.

11. Enter your email and password and touch Next

The Tread app will automatically communicate with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.

1. Open the Tread app on your phone and set your phone to Find Me or Discoverable mode

If you are not sure how to set your phone to Find Me or Discoverable mode, refer to the owner's manual or documentation that came with the cell phone.

2. Touch Settings (gear wheel icon) on the Garmin device

3. Touch Wireless Networks

4. Check the box next to Bluetooth if it is unchecked

5. Touch Pair a Device in the Tread app

6.  If Bluetooth is disabled on your phone, you will be prompted to enable it. If this is the case, touch Enable

7. The Tread app will begin searching for the device

8. Touch Yes on the Garmin device, if prompted 

9. Touch Pair in the Tread app, if prompted 

10. Touch Sign In to sign in to your myGarmin account or touch Create Account to create a new one

The Tread app will automatically communicate with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.
