How Do I Turn off a Garmin Watch That Does Not Feature a Power Button?

Some Garmin watches do not feature the ability to physically turn off the watch. This includes:

  • This model can be powered off: On the watch, select Settings > System > Power Off. Powering it back on will require plugging it into the charging cable.

After several minutes of the watch not detecting any movement, the optical heart rate sensor and accelerometer will stop recording information until movement is detected again. This will reduce power consumption significantly, but the watch will still be powered on using the battery.

If you plan to take your watch off for any extended period, it is recommended that you charge it up before you resume wearing it again.

How Do I Restart a Watch with No Power Button?

If you are experiencing an issue that you believe may benefit from restarting the watch, try the following steps: Plug your watch into a USB power source using the charging cable, wait a few moments, then unplug it.  This will restart the watch.
