Download, View, or Delete Satellite Imagery on an Alpha 200 Plus or Alpha 300 Series
Alpha® 200 Plus and Alpha® 300 series dog tracking handhelds have the ability to download Satellite Imagery directly via a Wi-Fi connection with no subscription required.
Things to Keep in Mind With Satellite Imagery
Wi-Fi will be required to download satellite imagery. For steps on setting up Wi-Fi, see - Wi-Fi Set Up on the Alpha 300.
Your Alpha handheld must be paired to your phone through the Garmin Alpha or Garmin Explore™ app. For steps, see - null.
If the handheld is brand new or was recently restored to factory defaults, it needs to acquire an initial GPS fix prior to downloading satellite imagery.
The status bar shows the GPS signal strength. If you are unable to download images, take your device outside to ensure it has acquired a good signal.
If you do not have a smartphone, you can download Satellite Imagery onto your device through BaseCamp™ software. For steps, see - Downloading Satellite Imagery on the Alpha 300 or Alpha 300i with BaseCamp.
There is a total limit of 250 satellite imagery files (JNX files) that can be downloaded.
Limit is combined total of BirdsEye imagery files downloaded using BaseCamp and Satellite Imagery files downloaded using Map Manager on the handheld. Up to 100 of those Satellite Imagery files can be downloaded using Map Manager on the handheld.
Downloading Satellite Imagery
Before you download your images ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection, do not leave the Wi-Fi area while the download is happening. Depending on the speed of the Wi-Fi network, each download may take several minutes to complete. Note, once you download the image you cannot change its saved location without downloading the image again.
