Transferring BaseCamp Data to New Database or Computer on Windows

When creating a new database in BaseCamp™ software, the new database will be empty at first and will not have any data from the default database. Using cloud storage can keep your data backed up and accessible from different computers. The steps outlined in this are for Windows-based operating systems.

NOTE: Importing data from one database to another will import the content (waypoints, routes, tracks, etc.) The import process will not import the folders the content was originally organized in.

Creating a New Database:

  1. Select Edit on the Toolbar
  2. Select Options
    • Edit menu showing items that can be selected

  3. Select General
  4. Select small white plus on green background next to Default
  5. Create a name for a new database
    • Pop up windows showing both the browse option and new database

  6. Select Browse
  7. Select where the new database should be located
    • Select Make New Folder to add a folder in the desired location (ex, BaseCamp New Database within My Documents, as shown above)
  8. Select the OK box on both the Browse window and New Database window
  9. Use the drop-down to select Default
  10. Select OK
  11. Follow the steps below for exporting and importing data before using the new database
