This Video is a Quick and Easy way to Learn about Pairing your Device with the Garmin eLog app.
1. Open the Apple App Store application on the iPhone or iPad
2. Search for "Garmin eLog"
3. Touch Get and download the app
4. Touch Open
5. Review and agree to the Terms and Conditions
6. Touch Continue
7. Touch Next
- Touch Always Allow when prompted to allow the Garmin eLog access to your location
NOTE: Make sure the vehicle is turned OFF to proceed
8. Firmly plug the adapter into the vehicle's diagnostic port
NOTE: The standard connection is 9-pin. It may be necessary to use the included adapter for a 6-pin port or a third party adapter for a 16-pin port. OBD-II protocol is NOT supported at this time.
9. Turn the locking ring clockwise to secure it in place
10. Turn on the vehicle
11. Push the button on the Garmin eLog ELD adapter for one second until you hear a tone
12. Touch "View nearby adapters"
13. Select the Garmin eLog from the list of available devices
14. Confirm the Vehicle Information. Some vehicles will automatically communicate the VIN and CMV ID. Manually enter the requested information if prompted.
a. Enter the full 17 digit VIN
b. The CMV ID should be known to you or your company. If you do not have a CMV ID, enter any alphanumeric code in this field.
15. Touch Confirm
16. Touch Go to Next Step
17. Create an Administrator Profile
NOTE: The app requires a separate Administrator Profile and Driver profile, but cannot use the exact same name for both
18. Touch Save and Finish
19. The Setup Complete message will display. Touch Add Driver to continue.
20. Enter in driver information, exemption information, carrier information, 24-Hour starting period, weekly rule set, and load-type rule set
NOTE: The 24-Hour Starting Period should be set before you expect to begin your day. This should be set by your motor carrier. You can set it to 00:00:00 (Midnight) if you don't have a normal schedule.
21. Choose whether to allow Personal Conveyance and Yard Move options
22. Touch Save
23. Login to the driver profile to begin using the Garmin eLog
