Automotive Device Doesn't Have Any Sound

See the Troubleshooting Below if Your Automotive Device Produces No Sound/can't Hear Audio:

Check Master Volume and Sounds

The device's master volume may be turned down and/or muted, or certain types of audio may be disabled.

1. Touch Volume

2. If the Master Volume slider circle is set all the way to the left, touch and drag the slider to the right to raise the volume

3. If the slider is grey and the mute symbol appears to the left, touch the mute symbol to un-mute the volume

  • Some devices will not have the mute symbol

4. Press the down arrow to access the Sounds section

5. If any of the options in the Sounds section are disabled, touch the desired options to enable them

Check Volume Mixer

You may need to check the volume mixer if the device still makes no sound even with the master volume turned up, and/or if you can receive phone calls but no navigation prompts (or vice-versa).

1. Touch Volume

2. Touch Mixer

3. If one or more sliders are set all the way to the left, touch and drag them to the right to raise the volume

Update the Device Software and Voice Language

The selected voice language may have a problem and/or need to be updated if you still do not receive navigation prompts from the device, especially if the device is able to provide prompts with a different voice language selected. The device software may also need to be updated.

Both updates can be carried out in Garmin Express. See below for instructions:

NOTE: The zūmo® XT has the ability to be connected to a headset or helmet. Ensure they are disconnected to receive sound from the device.

Please contact Product Support if your device still does not produce any sound after following these steps.
