Broadcast Garmin StreetPilot® for iOS Voice Prompts Through Bluetooth

The Garmin StreetPilot® apps for iPhone provide spoken turn prompts during navigation. These prompts can be broadcast through the internal speaker of the iPhone or through a Bluetooth connection. This allows you to hear the voice prompts through Bluetooth speakers, headphones, headsets, and car kits.

Our latest update provides a better in-car integration by adding Bluetooth audio support. This allows you to hear directions through your car's speakers when your smartphone is connected to your stereo via Bluetooth. If you're listening to music from your iPhone through your car's speakers, the application will automatically detect the Bluetooth connection and lower the music volume during navigation voice prompts.

To set the audio output of the Garmin StreetPilot® app to Bluetooth:

  1. On the main menu of the application (where it displays "Where To?" and "View Map"), tap on the "Settings" icon.
  2. Tap on "Audio and Display".
  3. Tap on "Audio output".
  4. Tap on "Bluetooth".

Please note that, due to the wide variety of device manufacturers, it is possible for a device that uses either the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) or Hands-Free Profile (HFP) to be incompatible with our applications. As such, we are currently unable to provide a listing of compatible Bluetooth devices.
