Updating the Software on Your inReach Mini 2

Software for your inReach® Mini 2 satellite communicator should be kept up-to-date in order to take advantage of improvements and bug fixes. Updates are free and easy to install. To update the software on your inReach Mini 2, use the Garmin Messenger™ app, Garmin Explore™ app, or Garmin Express™ program.

Wireless Software Updates

The Garmin Messenger app or Garmin Explore app can be used to download software updates automatically behind the scenes while your inReach Mini 2 is connected to your mobile phone with a data connection. There are no steps required to obtain the latest software and the update may take up to 45 minutes with a continuous connection. Once an update has been sent to the inReach Mini 2, it will prompt the user to install the update. If No is selected to install the update on the inReach Mini 2, it can be installed later by pressing OK from the home page of the inReach Mini 2, then selecting Settings > System > Software Update > Yes.

Garmin Messenger™ App

The Garmin Messenger app can be used with the inReach Mini 2 to activate an inReach® subscription, send and receive messages, and make changes to your inReach subscription. Garmin Explore™ App

The Garmin Explore can be used to download topo and aerial maps to your smartphone, save waypoints, create courses, and sync recorded activities to a Garmin Explore account. Garmin Express Software

The Garmin Express program provides the ability to check and offer software updates automatically each time you connect your inReach Mini 2 to the computer. Garmin Express software requires the use of a Windows or Mac computer and cannot be utilized on a smartphone or tablet. Updating the inReach Mini 2 Software Through Garmin Express

If this is your first time using a computer with your inReach Mini 2, you will need to download and install the Garmin Express program.

1. 1. Connect your inReach Mini 2 to your computer with the USB charging cable.

   2. Launch Garmin Express program.

   3. Select your inReach Mini 2.

      • NOTE: If this is your first time using the Garmin Express program, see - Adding and Removing Devices in Garmin Express.

   4. Garmin Express will then display the available updates. Select Install or Install All.

      • Review and accept any prompts for Terms and Conditions or Important Notes.

   5. Once complete, disconnect your inReach Mini 2 from the computer.

      • If necessary, power your inReach Mini 2 back on and apply the update.
