Editing or Reversing a Route Transferred from BaseCamp™
Due to how routes are created and saved in BaseCamp™ software, they cannot then be edited or changed once on a device.
When a route is created using a road routable activity profile in the BaseCamp™ program, the route is saved as-is when transferred to a device. The device has no option to edit or invert or reverse said route due to the possibility of one-way roads.
With the possibility of one-way roads to consider, the device has no option to edit or reverse said route because it would have to recalculate it which creates a completely different route.
To have the ability to edit or reverse the route directly on the device, you can either create the route on the device itself, or use the Direct routing activity profile when creating the route in BaseCamp™.
For non-vehicular routes, such as those used by hikers and runners, it is suggested to convert them into tracks in BaseCamp™, which can then be reversed on the device if desired. For steps, see - Create a Track from a Route. Otherwise, to have a return or reversed route on the device, it needs to be created in BaseCamp™ in addition to the original route and both must be sent to the device.
For information on the differences between routes and tracks, see Related.
