Changing Vehicle Type on the RV 780
The vehicle type determines how your RV 780 device will calculate routes.
To Change the Vehicle Type:
- Touch the vehicle type icon at the top of the main menu
- Alternatively, touch Settings, then Vehicle Profile
- Touch the desired vehicle type
- Touch Select to save the change
If you need to create a new vehicle profile, press the Add button, then refer to your device's owner's manual for additional information.
Your device can choose one of the following vehicle types:
- Car: for use in a regular passenger vehicle; road restrictions such as bridge heights will not be factored in when calculating routes
- Motorhome: for use in a motorhome with a permanently attached Camper/RV
- Motorhome with Trailer: for use in a motorhome with an additional trailer hitched. The following trailer types may then be selected:
- Travel trailer
- Boat trailer
- Trailer (flatbed)
- Car with Trailer: for use in a car, pickup truck, or other passenger vehicle with an additional trailer hitched. The following trailer types may then be selected:
- Travel trailer
- Fifth-wheel trailer
- Boat trailer
- Trailer (flatbed)
Flat Towing - A trailer profile may also be chosen when using a tow bar with vehicles suitable for flat towing, also known as four-down towing or dinghy towing. Some vehicles can develop transmission damage when flat towed, so it is important to check the owner’s manual to be certain a vehicle is stated to be suitable for this purpose by its manufacturer.
The Motorhome and Trailer modes will attempt to route away from roads where your vehicle will not be allowed to travel, based on the dimensions and features entered into your vehicle profile. For steps to edit your vehicle profile, refer to your device's owner's manual.
