inReach Messages Not Received by SMS Phone Numbers in Mexico
There have been policy changes in Mexico regarding SMS messaging that are affecting inReach® messages from being received. Our SMS provider is working to resolve this, but we do not yet have an estimated time on when this will be fixed. For now, we have set SMS messages to recipients in Mexico to include a web link in the message itself. As long as the recipient uses this link and then replies from the webpage they are directed to, the reply should be sent back to the inReach device.
You can also email messaging to communicate with your recipients. When using this method it is best to let the recipient of these messages know to check for the message in their email account.
Alternatively, you can choose to send messages to your MapShare™ page and viewers are able to send messages from your MapShare page to the inReach device. The Garmin Messenger™ app also allows for messaging between the user and the recipient. For more information, see - Sending a Message to an inReach Device.
Messages only go to your MapShare if you specifically address the message to MapShare as the contact. This can be done using the Garmin Messenger app, Garmin Explore™ app, Earthmate® app, or the inReach device.
