Next Steps if I Am Not Issued a Pre-Departure Clearance (PDC)

If you are not issued a PDC you should ask the controller why they did not issue one. The controller is the one who can issue your PDC, and there may be an error that is preventing them from issuing one. A common issue resulting in a PDC not being issued is re-filing your flight plan. Instead of re-filing, you should contact the tower and have them update your departure so a PDC can still be issued. Another reason for a PDC to not be issued is if your flight is less than 30 minutes long. ATC will not issue a PDC for a flight this short.
