Master Reset for DC 50 Full-Size Dog Tracking and Training Collar
If a DC™ 50 dog tracking collar is failing to operate as expected, corrupt data may be the cause. If that is the case, performing a master reset on the collar will reset the collar to factory settings and clear data, resolving these issues. Before performing the master reset you should remove the collar from the dog list of any handhelds to which it is paired.
Removing the Collar From the Dog List
- Select the Dog List.
- Select the Dog to remove.
- Select Remove.
Performing a Master Reset
- Ensure the device is powered off.
- Disassemble and remove any Y-splitter cable (the part that allows you to charge two devices at once).
- Connect the charging clip to the collar.
- Connect the USB cable to the collar.
- Connect the USB cable to a power source (either a computer or an AC wall adapter).
- Ensure collar light is active to confirm connection (solid red or green).
- Firmly press the Power button 4 times within four seconds.
NOTE: Pressing too slow or too fast may not work. You may have to try again. - Wait for light to turn green then red.
- Disconnect the USB cable and charging clip from collar.
After the collar has now been reset and is ready to be added back into the Dog List, see Pairing a Dog Tracking Handheld and Collar.
If the collar did not reset you may want to try the sequence again and ensure you are hearing the quiet tone after each button press. After the reset, it may be necessary to leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for 20 minutes to acquire satellites.
Updating software is always a good idea and may be needed after a reset. To update the collars, a Windows computer is needed. For instructions on updating collars, see Installing Software Updates to Dog Tracking Handhelds and Compatible Collars.
