Third Party Mapping Compatibility with Garmin Outdoor Handhelds
Garmin cannot guarantee compatibility of third party maps as they are made to work with Garmin devices, and we do not test them.
However, in this article, we provide help on ensuring the handheld device is set up properly to view the mapping. To confirm the device settings are correct, review the following:
NOTE: Outside of the above, if you continue having problems with the maps, contact the map manufacturer for troubleshooting.
- Visit the map manufacturer website to check if they claim the map is compatible with your Garmin device.
- If you cannot find this information, reach out to the map manufacturer for assistance.
- Ensure you have the latest version of the map.
- Make sure your device has the most current software. For steps, see - Installing Software Updates to Outdoor Handhelds.
- Check the map settings on the device. The owner's manual provides directions for your specific model.
- Ensure the non-Garmin map is enabled or turned on.
- You may have to disable some Garmin maps for the third party map to show on the map page of the handheld.
- Ensure the Basemap is also enabled.
- Ensure the Basemap is also enabled.
- If the map is loaded to a microSD card, ensure it is properly seated and locked into place. You can review the owner's manual for specific instructions.
