NEO | NEO 2 | NEO 2T Smart Trainer LED Light and Error Codes

The following Tacx NEO Smart trainers are equipped with three LED lights which indicate if you are connected and powered:

  • Tacx® NEO 

  • Tacx® NEO 2

  • Tacx® NEO 2T

The lights can also show error codes when there is something wrong with the bike trainer. The lights are located on the left side of the trainer next to the model name as shown below:

Normal Operation LED Indicator Meanings

The three LED lights on the side of the trainer have a normal operational meaning and an error meaning. During normal operation, you should see the following LEDs:

 tacx blue light

Solid Blue: Trainer is connected to an app or device via Bluetooth

tacx green light

Solid Green: Trainer is connected to an app or device via ANT+

tacx red light1 

Solid Red: Trainer is externally powered by the power adapter

NOTE: The green LED will only light up when it receives a command from a head unit to change something. It does not stay lit constantly even when connected via Ant+ to a controlling head unit.

LED Errors and Troubleshooting

Below we will break down the various issues that you may encounter with your trainer along with corresponding troubleshooting. 

No Red Light When Connected to External Power

Check to ensure that the power cord is connected to the back of the trainer. If it is, try another power outlet. Make sure you are plugging directly into a power receptacle and not a power strip. 


No Lights at All

  1. Make sure that you see a blue light on the power adapter. If you do not see a blue light, try another power outlet. Make sure you are plugging directly into a power receptacle and not a power strip. If the issue persists you will need to replace your power adapter.

  2. If you do have a blue light on the power adapter, unplug the adapter from the wall and from the back of the trainer. Wait 60 minutes and then plug the adapter back into the wall outlet and the back of the trainer.

Flashing Red Power Light

This light will appear If you have just updated the software on your trainer and there was an issue. Remove the power cord from the trainer and leave it unplugged for 60 minutes. Two Flashing Red Lights

If you notice the power light flashing brightly along with the ANT+ faintly flashing this indicates that the trainer is overheated. Stop using the trainer and allow it to cool down. To learn more details about the issue, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your bike trainer to the Tacx Training app.

  2. Select Settings (bottom right).

  3. Select Device Manager.

  4. Select your trainer.

  5. Select Support. If there is an error, it will display here.
