Pairing an Alpha XL and Dog Tracking Collar

The following instructions are for pairing an Alpha® XL dog tracking and navigation device with compatible dog tracking collars. 

Select the Dogs icon in the Dogs/Contacts/Groups/Alerts icon group on the main screen. Before any collars are paired it will display 0/0 below the dog icon.

NOTE: Keep this device (the Alpha XL dog tracking display) within 3 meters of the powered device mount (contains the VHF radio to communicate with the collars) for full tracking functions.

1. In the upper right corner press the + symbol
2. Select one of the pairing methods listed
   • Pair Collar - Add a collar pairing to this device
     • With the collar off (not required for T 5X, TT™ 15X, Alpha T20, and Alpha TT25 collars), press and hold the Power button on the collar until it emits two beeps (about 5 seconds), and then release. The status LED will flash green (blue for Alpha T20 and Alpha TT25 collars) indicating the collar is ready to be paired.
     • Use the keyboard to enter a dog name. 
     • Select Finish
   • Enter Track or Control Code - Manually enter a collar code
   • Receive from Handheld - Receive pairing request from another device
3. Follow the on-screen instructions

The following chart shows which dog tracking collars are compatible with the different Garmin dog tracking devices.
