Transferring Inspection Files Using Email with the Garmin eLog App

An inspector may require the transfer of your record of duty status from the Garmin eLog™ ELD.  These files will transfer in .csv format.  See the instructions below for steps to transfer the inspection files using the Email option. 

iOS

1. Open the Garmin eLog™ app

2. Sign in to your driver profile 

 

3. Touch Inspection

 

4. Touch Send Report

  • Review data for accuracy prior to sending the report.

 

5. Touch Yes

 

6. Enter an annotation if necessary

  • Any key phrase or code provided by the DOT officer during the inspection should be entered here.
    • Special characters and spaces are not permitted and there is a maximum of 60 characters.

 

7. Change the date range if necessary

 

8. Touch Email

 

9. Enter an email address and touch Send Report

  • The app will display, "Enter an email address to receive confirmation from the FMCSA and Garmin about your data submission."
  • The confirmation email will include a copy of the RODS Report in .csv format.

 

 10. Touch OK

 

The email sent will have the RODS report attached.

Android

1. Open the Garmin eLog™ app
