How to Mute or Change Alert Tones on Garmin Dash Cams

Depending on your dash cam model, there are different ways to mute or change the alert tones on the device. Select your dash cam in the expandable sections below for directions.

To Change or Mute the Alert Volume via the Garmin Drive™ App:

1. Connect the Garmin Dash Cam with the Garmin Drive app

NOTE: The dash cam must be fully connected in order to access the Alert Volume.

2. Touch the Gear icon in the Garmin Drive app

3. Select the relevant dash cam from within the Vehicle

4. Select Alert Volume

5. Select the desired volume level

To Change Alert Volume on Dash Cams with a Built-In Display:

The overall volume of the dash cam can be adjusted on dash cams with a built-in display. See the steps in the dash cam's owner's manual for guidance: Let's Find the Manual for Your Device

Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 2 | Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 3 Driving Recorders

NOTE: A Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 driving recorder must have software version 2.70 or higher to control the alert tone using the Garmin Drive™ app. See  Updating a Garmin Dash Cam with the Garmin Drive App to update the software.

To Toggle the Alert Tone On or Off in the Garmin Drive™ App:

1. Connect the Garmin Dash Cam with the Garmin Drive app

NOTE: The dash cam must be powered and connected in order to access the Alert Volume.

2. Touch the Gear icon in the Garmin Drive app

3. Select the relevant dash cam from within the Vehicle

4. Look for Alert Volume

5. Select the desired volume level:  On or Mute

Alert Tones can be turned on or off by following the steps below:

  1. Press the up or down buttons Carrot Selection ButtonDown Carrot Selection Button on the side of the dash cam until Settings is displayed

  2. Press the Confirm selection button button to select Settings

  3. Select Driver Assistance

  4. Disable Alert tones as desired

Alternatively, the overall volume of the device can be adjusted as well:

  1. Press the up or down buttons Carrot Selection ButtonDown Carrot Selection Button on the side of the dash cam until Settings is displayed

  2. Press the Confirm selection button button to select Settings

  3. Select System

  4. Select Volume

  5. Adjust the volume level as desired with the up and down buttons Carrot Selection ButtonDown Carrot Selection Button

Garmin Dash Cam™ 30 | Garmin Dash Cam™ 35 Driving Recorders

Alert Tones can be turned on or off by following the steps below:

  1. Press the button until Settings displays on the screen

  2. Press the button to select Settings

  3. Press the up or down buttons until Alert Tone is highlighted

  4. Press the button

  5. Press the up or down buttons until the desired option is highlighted

  6. Press the button 

Alert Tones will now be enabled or disabled.

NOTE: The Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini, Garmin Dash Cam™ 10, and Garmin Dash Cam™ 20 driving recorders have no options for volume adjustment.
