Tracking Seems to Stop and Restart on a GPSMAP 86sci or GPSMAP 86i

When using the tracking feature on the GPSMAP 86sci or an 86i, the unit will sometimes appear to have stopped tracking. It is functioning as designed to insert a "break" in the recorded track line. It will look like a track line stop, followed by an immediate restart of the track line. The stop/start will show on the tracklog on the map page.

Another reason for a stop and restart of a track line is due to the device track resting. When movement picks back up, a fresh GPS sampling occurs. If the new GPS point is more than a hundred meters from the last transmitted point, it will transmit that new point and transition back to the moving interval. If this issue occurs frequently, contact Product Support.
