View, Share, and Delete Dash Cam Videos on the Garmin DriveAssist 51 with the VIRB Mobile App on an Android Phone

NOTE: The VIRB® Mobile app has been discontinued from the Google Play Store and is no longer available to download for Android devices.

You can view, save, share, or delete dash cam videos and photos taken from your device on your Android phone using the VIRB Mobile App. The VIRB Mobile app is a free application that will allow you to easily save or share videos or photos taken with your Garmin DriveAssist™ 51 device. 

Note: Android version 6.0 or later is required.

Video Instructions:

Once you have the application downloaded and have some video footage recorded on your Garmin DriveAssist™ 51, you will need to set up a Wi-Fi connection between your device and the app on your phone.

To Set Up the Connection on the Garmin Device:

1. Touch Apps

2. Touch Gallery

3. Touch Yes to confirm

4. Touch Share Gallery

To Set Up the Connection on your Android Phone:

1. Open the VIRB Mobile app

• • The app will automatically search for and display nearby devices.

2. Ensure the Network Name displayed in the app is the same as the network name of the device.

3. Enter the Network Password displayed on the Garmin device

4. Touch Continue

It may take about a minute to display all videos once connected. 

To View a Video or Photo:

1. Launch the VIRB Mobile app

2. Select the desired video

3. Touch the play icon

To Share or Download a Video or Photo:

1. Select the desired video in the VIRB Mobile app

2. Touch the Share button 

3. Trim the video as desired by touching and dragging the brackets on either side of the timeline at the bottom of the screen

• • NOTE: Trimming the video will not delete the original video

4. Touch Next

• • The video will prepare for upload. This can take several minutes, depending on the length of the video.

5. Touch the Share button 

• • To save the video or photo to the phone's gallery, touch the Download button 

6. Select the desired sharing method

You will have sharing options such as text, e-mail, Facebook, YouTube, and more. The options that appear here depend on which apps are installed on your phone.

You can delete any selected video by pressing the trash can icon  on the main screen of the VIRB Mobile app.

NOTE: If there is no unsaved footage recorded, or if the unsaved footage has been deleted, the following message will appear when touching Unsaved Footage in the VIRB Mobile app. 

"No Media to display with current filter. Show All Media"
