Using the Break Planning Feature on the Instinct 2 dēzl™ Edition
Note: This device by itself is NOT an approved substitute for logbook recording requirements under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Drivers should comply with all applicable federal and state hours-of-service requirements. You can use the break planning glance on your Instinct® 2 - dēzl™ Edition Rugged trucking smartwatch to keep track of your working hours, which may help you comply with safety regulations. The Break Planning alert is a reminder and indicator for when a required break is approaching.
To Use Break Planning on the Watch:
You can start the timer from the break planning glance at any time.
1. From the glance loop, select Break Planning
2. Press the GPS button to start a drive
- The drive timer starts and your next break time displays below the timer.
3. Press the GPS button to start a break
- The break timer starts and your next break time displays below the timer.
You can also use the Break Planning Hot Key. Hold the GPS button and Down button at the same time to switch between Driving and On Break.
To Enable/Disable the Break Planning Feature:
1. From the glance loop, select Break Planning
2. Hold the Menu button
3. Select Break Planning Options
4. Press the GPS button to change the status to On or Off
For HOS (US-only):
As of 9/29/2020, the ‘driving’ status is the only status that doesn’t contribute to rest-breaks. “On Duty” and “Yard Moves” can now contribute to a rest-break.
30-min is the required duration for a rest-break, not 15-min.
The required rest-break is 8-hr from the (a) start of their day or (b) their last rest-break.
The required rest-break only applies to property-carrying vehicles, passenger-carrying vehicles are not required to take a break.
