Software Update Failed in the Garmin Messenger App
After pairing a compatible Garmin® device with the Garmin Messenger™ app it will download available software updates automatically while your Garmin device is connected and your mobile phone has a data connection. If the update cannot be transferred to the device, the following message may appear in the app:
Software Update Failed
Failed to transfer software update. Try again.
If this error occurs, try the following:
Check for updates to the Garmin Messenger app in the app store for your phone.
If you are still getting a "software update failed to transfer" type message, you can tap on the message in the app and the update transfer should reinitiate.
Make sure to leave the Garmin Messenger app open or running in the background and leave your Garmin device powered on and connected for some time to allow any pending software updates to transfer.
If you are still unable to receive the update, the Garmin Express™ program can be used on a computer to update your device if needed.
