Using Red Shift Mode on an AMOLED Display Watch
The bright AMOLED displays on Garmin® watches come with a mode called Red Shift. More than just a different color for a watch face, Red Shift changes the entire watch interface to shades of red, green, or orange. This can help preserve your night vision by blocking the colors of light that constrict pupils, and also reduce sleep cycle disturbances. You can use every feature of the watch while in Red Shift mode, including activities and the map, but it can reduce visible contrast on some screens. Red Shift can be enabled from the controls menu on the watch, through a hot key, or the display settings.
For information on which watches support Red Shift, see your owner's manual.
Enabling Red Shift
From the Controls Menu
To enable Red Shift, access the controls menu by holding the Light button. Select the eclipse icon to turn on Red Shift. To disable Red Shift, select the icon from the controls menu again. If you do not see the Red Shift icon, you may need to add it to your controls menu - search your owner's manual for customizing the controls menu.
Using a Hot Key
You can enable Red Shift through a hot key shortcut on your watch. See your owner's manual for instructions on how to set up a hot key. Holding the designated button or button combination will switch the watch to Red Shift mode. Holding that button or button combination again will switch back to normal display mode.
