GPSMAP 620/640 Software Update

Garmin often releases updates for devices to improve performance, correct bugs, or add new features to devices. To update the internal software of a portable marine chartplotter, please follow the instructions below.

Please be aware that this update will only update the internal operating system software and not mapping detail preloaded to the device.

The software update may erase user data that has been saved to the device. Before performing the software update, please backup all user data (waypoints, routes, and tracks). For instruction on backing up user data from the device, please see Related Content.

To update your device's software a program called WebUpdater will need to be downloaded and installed. There are instructions at the bottom of the download page that will help with the installation of the program. Once the program has been installed, please follow the on screen prompts to complete the update process.
