Difference Between inReach Personal and Professional Plans

Garmin offers several different options for choosing the inReach subscription plan that is right for you. Our inReach Personal subscription plans are designed for a single user with the choice of monthly Freedom or Annual options. Professional Flex subscription plans are designed for multiple users and devices on one account and are ideal for businesses, organizations or teams.

Garmin inReach device subscription plans are similar to mobile phones. Because of that, the plans have varying options, and it is important to choose the best plan that fits your needs.

Plan Types

Need help deciding the right plan for you? Consider the following examples:

• I just want a device to use so my family and friends can keep track of me, and we can communicate when I’m outdoors.

o   The ideal plan would be an inReach Personal subscription plan. If you're outside or travel remotely year-round, the Annual plan may be a good fit. If your adventures are seasonal or occasional, a Freedom plan would be a good choice.

• I want an inReach device for me, one for my spouse and one for our adult son or daughter, so we can all keep in contact on our various adventures.

o   If each family member is going to be personally in charge of their own account and consistently used by the same individuals, we would again recommend the Personal plans based on how often you are going to be using them.

o   If one person in the family is paying for each of the devices, it’s still best to create an individual personal plan for each member of the family. Personal plans are designed for a typical consumer outdoor adventure experience.

• I am going to activate several inReach devices that I want to distribute and share between different members of a group or organization.

o   If you are going to be financially responsible for and manage several devices that are going to be used by multiple users in an organization, we recommend the Professional flex plan options. This will allow you to create separate users for each device and keep track of all the devices under one account. You can assign a user for each device as needed.

• I own a business and I have several employees who are going to be out in the field and I want to be able to communicate with them even when out of cell service.

o   Anytime you are a business and working with devices that you want to manage and have administrative rights to the devices and associated subscription, select a Professional flex plan.
