Managing Your inReach Subscription in the Earthmate App or Garmin Messenger App
Depending on which model of inReach® satellite communicator you have, your inReach subscription can be managed in either the Garmin Messenger™ app or the Earthmate® app to do things like change your plan tier, suspend or reactivate your subscription (for existing Freedom plans),1 update your emergency information, and review optional search and rescue insurance.
Select your current plan type below the picture of your inReach device.
Select an option.
Change Plan
Here you can change to a different plan tier. For existing Freedom plans1 you can also suspend or reactivate your subscription. For more details on the different plans, see inReach Consumer Subscription Plans.
Update Billing Info
Here you can update your billing address and/or payment method. You can also make a payment to add funds to your account.
Cancel Plan
Here you can cancel your subscription. Prior to cancelling you will be given the opportunity to switch your subscription to inReach Enabled to keep the device active in case of an emergency for a low monthly fee.
Emergency Information
Here you can update the following items:
YOUR INFORMATION - Edit your name, address, or phone number.
NOTES - Add or edit emergency notes for any known medical concerns, or other details that could be helpful in the event that the SOS feature on your inReach device needs to be used. If you have additional coverage for medical evacuation or search and rescue, you can include that and how the Garmin Response℠ team can get in contact with the company providing that service.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS - Emergency contacts can be edited, but cannot be deleted. Two emergency contacts must be saved on the account. In the event that the SOS feature on your inReach device is used, Garmin Response will use your main contact information first, then they will contact the people listed as emergency contacts. Therefore, it is best to enter completely unique information for your emergency contacts.
Search and Rescue Insurance
Here you can learn more about the optional search and rescue (SAR) insurance plans that are available for purchase in the US, Canada, and US Territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, US virgin Islands), or view the status of existing SAR insurance plans associated with your inReach account.

NOTE: Making changes to your inReach subscription requires Wi-Fi® or cellular connectivity.
Open the Earthmate app.
Select (Android™) or More (iPhone®/iPad®).
Select My inReach.
Select Manage Subscription.
Select an option.

1As of September 18, 2024, both the Annual and Freedom versions of Safety, Recreation, and Expedition plans are no longer available for purchase. All Existing Freedom plan users will be able to suspend and reactivate their service until their next annual renewal date unless they change to one of our newer plan options or cancel their subscription. All existing Annual plan users can remain in their current plan until they change to one of our newer plan options or cancel their subscription.
