Instructions to Transfer Data From One Garmin Connect to Another
NOTICE:
Read all instructions within this article carefully and understand your options clearly before attempting this process.
Not all data may be transferred from one account or another.
This process is not intended to be followed if you need to simply change your email address. For help with that process see: How Do I Change My Email Address Used in Garmin Connect?
If you own two or more Garmin Connect™ accounts and you need to merge or transfer data from one account to the other, you have two options below to choose from.
Option 1: Manually Exporting And Uploading Individual Activities
From a web browser, sign into the Garmin Connect account you no longer plan to use.
Export the activities you wish to copy over to your primary account (see How Do I Export Data Out of Garmin Connect?).
From a web browser, sign into the Garmin Connect account you plan to use as your primary account.
Import the activities you exported from the other account (see How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?).
- Delete the account you no longer plan to use. For help see: Deleting Your Garmin Account.
- Following this step will delete data that cannot be recovered.
Option 2: Exporting and Uploading All Data Including Wellness Data
NOTICE: Wellness data can only be uploaded to an account if the watch that recorded the data is active on the account you are transferring data to. If you no longer have the watch that recorded the data, and it is not listed as an active device on the account that you want to move data to, you will not be able to use this process.
Confirm that your Garmin device(s) are listed under the account you wish to migrate data to.
If your Garmin devices are still tied to the account you no longer want to track data under, you will need to remove them from Garmin Connect and add them back to Garmin Connect while signed into the destination account.
Complete steps 1 and 2 of this FAQ: Remove and Add a Device From the Garmin Connect App
Sign out of your Garmin Connect account that you want to stop using. Then sign into the Garmin Connect account you want to migrate data to: null
Complete step 3 of this FAQ: Remove and Add a Device From the Garmin Connect App
Export all data from the account you wish to consolidate into your primary account.
See this FAQ and select the option "Export All Garmin Data Using Account Management Center": How Do I Export Data Out of Garmin Connect?
Delete the account that you just exported all data from.
For help with this step, see: Deleting Your Garmin Account
STOP!: You cannot proceed to step #4 until you receive confirmation that this account has been deleted. This may take days to complete. Attempting to uploading wellness files that you have exported before the account you no longer want is deleted will result in error messages once you start step 6.
Once step 3 is complete; open the .zip file for the export package you downloaded from your now deleted account.
Navigate to ″DI_Connect > DI_Connect-fitness-Uploaded-Files” and extract any .zip files contained in it.
Due to the frequency of wellness file upload, there may be thousands of small wellness files. All the activity and wellness files will show as .fit files. You can ignore any files with other extensions.
From a web browser, sign into the Garmin Connect account you plan to use as your primary account.
Import the activity and wellness files you exported from the other account. For help see: How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?.
Import in batches of 100-500 files at a time. Uploading more than 500 files at a time may cause your web browser to crash.
If you encounter an error that a particular file has already been uploaded, that would mean that this file is already on your Garmin Connect account.
Continue until all wellness and activity .fit files have been uploaded to the primary account.
