What is SatIQ and How Does it Work?

Garmin SatIQ™ satellite technology is a GPS technology that determines the optimal GPS mode based on your environment. SatIQ can determine when Multiband GNSS is needed, like near tall buildings or in a dense forest, or when a low power GPS mode can achieve the same accuracy, like in more open areas. By choosing Auto Select in the satellite setting on your device, SatIQ can automatically toggle between GPS modes in order to maximize battery life without compromising positional accuracy.

How to Enable SatIQ

  1. Press START/STOP to view the activity list.

  2. Select a supported activity sport profile.

  3. Press UP/MENU to access menu.

  4. Select the activity settings.

  5. Select Satellites.

  6. Select Auto Select.

Compatible Edge® Cycling Computers

  1. Select the Menu.

  2. Select Activity Profiles.

  3. Select a profile.

  4. Select Satellite Systems.

  5. Select Auto Select.
