Using Swim and Rest Intervals
It is possible to break a pool swim session into swim intervals and rest intervals. Using intervals makes it easier to review your pool swimming data in Garmin Connect and improves the accuracy of your swim data. To create swim and rest intervals you can use the Lap button on your watch or, if using a compatible watch, the Auto Rest feature.
How Do I Use the Lap Button for Swim and Rest Intervals?
To start your rest interval using the Lap button, press the Lap key on your watch (typically the back button) when you reach the wall at the start of your rest. During rest intervals, the watch does not compute swim metrics (like distance, pace, stroke count, or stroke type), and the rest screen is displayed showing how long you have been resting and information from the last swim interval.
When you are ready to resume swimming, press Lap again to end the rest and start a new swim interval. A swim interval is a series of one or more consecutive lengths. When you are in a swim interval, the watch computes swim metrics (distance, pace, stroke count, etc.).
Depending on the specific watch and features, the text and background colors may appear different during a rest interval. The Rest Timer data field will also be active and counting during a rest interval.
Can My Watch Automatically Start Swim and Rest Intervals for Me?
Select watches have an Auto Rest feature for pool swimming. This feature allows your watch to detect when you are resting and when you resume swimming, and can be used instead of pressing the Lap key to create swim and rest intervals. For more information on this feature, see - null.
