BaseStation Mode

Coordinating efforts requires the right tools. The BaseStation feature provides the ability to connect a Rino* series, Alpha series, Astro 900, Astro 430 or Astro 320 to a computer to view contacts and dogs on a larger display.

Before using BaseStation Mode having the following:

• Appropriate USB cable
• Download and install the latest BaseCamp software**
• Ensure the handheld is up to date using Garmin Express

To use BaseStation with a supported device:

1. Turn on the device
2. Enable BaseStation mode
   • For instructions to enable BaseStation, see Enabling Basestation Mode below
3. Connect the device to the computer
4. On the device, select Yes to enable BaseCamp BaseStation mode
5. In BaseCamp, wait for device to appear below the Devices heading
6. Under the device name, select the BaseStation folder
7. Select contacts or dogs to view them on the map
8. Repeat steps 1-7 as needed for each device

Contacts from the device or devices are now viewable within BaseCamp. 

Enabling BaseStation Mode

Rino series*:

1. Press Setup
2. Press System
3. Press Interface
4. Press BaseStation

Alpha:

1. Press Setup
2. Press System
3. Press BaseCamp BaseStation
4. Press Prompted

Astro 320, Astro 430 or Astro 900:

1. Navigate to the Main Menu
2. Select Setup
3. Select System
4. Select BaseCamp BaseStation
5. Select Prompted

*Rino 700 model does not support BaseStation

**Tablets that meet the system requirements for BaseCamp and have a USB port can be used to run BaseStation mode.
