Garmin solar watches feature technology that allows them to charge from sunlight to extend battery life. The following information will help you better understand how the technology works to get the most out of your solar charging watch. 

Can I use a screen protector with a Garmin solar?

Garmin does not recommend the use of any kind of screen protector, as it will reduce the solar intensity received by the Power Glass lens.

I want to get the most out of solar charging, what should I do?

To get the most out of the sun's power, you will want the lens to be directed towards the sun. To learn more, click here. 

Does solar charging take place while the watch is off?

Solar charging can take place while the watch is off. 

There is a battery or plug icon on my watch face, what does this mean?

The battery or plug icon indicates your watch is in a state where it currently is unable to accept additional solar charge. This includes a full battery, attached to another power source, or the temperature is either too hot or too cold. Once outside of these conditions, the watch will then be able to receive solar charge from the Power Glass lens.
