Troubleshooting an Automotive Traffic Issue
Traffic receiver cables are purchased separately from your device. If you are instead using Smartphone Link traffic with a compatible Android phone or iPhone, see Troubleshooting Smartphone Link Live Traffic on Automotive Devices.
If you are using a traffic receiver cable to power your dezl device, but are not receiving any traffic information, there are a number of troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue.
First, see the following support video on proper placement of the traffic receiver cable:
Support: Traffic Receiver Cable Placement |
Next, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Confirm external power is being supplied to the GTM vehicle power cable or BC 30 vehicle power cable. The LED light on the top of the plug should be lit. If it is not, check the fuse
- The sticker affixed to the vehicle power cable's cord or plug should indicate whether it is a GTM 36, GTM 60, or BC 30
- GTM cables have a red LED light
- The BC 30 has a blue LED light
- Review the manual for your device to ensure the cable is connected to the correct port
- Verify the cable's placement
- Update the device and traffic receiver software using Garmin Express
- Confirm you're using the device in a traffic coverage area based on the traffic service you are using
- Garmin Traffic
- For tips on interpreting the Garmin Traffic map, go to Interpreting the Garmin Traffic map
- HD Digital Traffic
- HD Digital Traffic is available by using the GTM 60, which comes with devices labeled LMTHD, or it can be purchased separately
- For information on interpreting the traffic coverage maps, go to Interpreting the HD Digital Traffic Map
It is also possible that the traffic service has been disabled on your device.
To confirm whether the service is enabled:
- Connect the device to power using the vehicle power cable
- Open the
Settings menu
- Touch Navigation
- Touch Traffic
If traffic is disabled, you may enable it here.
