Garmin Fitness Device Will Not Power On

There are some things you can try if your device will not power on.

Is the Device Locked Up or Frozen?

A device not responding while appearing to be turned off can be recovered by attempting the following steps.

  1. Plug the device into an external power source using the power/data cable.

  2. Press and hold the power button until the device powers off (hold up to 30 seconds).

  3. Release the power button.

  4. If the power/data cable does not power the device back on automatically, unplug from the power source and plug back in or press the power button.


Are the Charging Contact Points in Working Condition?

Ensure your cable is not damaged and the charging pins are free of debris, corrosion, and are all at the same height. Replace the cable if necessary.

Check the charging port on the device for damage, debris, or corrosion. Use a pencil eraser or a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean them and allow to air dry. If you have a Garmin watch, follow these guidelines:  Cleaning the Battery Contacts on a Rechargeable Garmin Watch
