Setting up Garmin Drive App Traffic on an Android Phone

Live traffic information can be received through your compatible smartphone's data plan, and can be sent instantaneously to your Garmin automotive navigator through the free Garmin Drive App. This information allows your Garmin device to display and help you avoid slow traffic due to accidents, construction, or other obstacles.

Installing Garmin Drive App

First, it is necessary to install the free Garmin Drive application to your compatible smartphone. For information on compatible mobile platforms and automotive devices, see the FAQ  Garmin Drive App Compatibility and Availability

Once you have confirmed that your phone and automotive device are able to communicate via the Garmin Drive app, the next step is to download the app to your phone. For steps, see the FAQ  Installing the Garmin Drive App

Pairing Garmin Drive App with the automotive device

Once the app has been installed to your phone, the Garmin Drive App and the automotive device are ready to be paired, if they have not been already.

To pair the Garmin Drive App and your automotive device:

1.	Open the Garmin Drive App on your phone and set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable mode	If you are not sure how to set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable mode, refer to the owner's manual or documentation that came with the cell phone.
2.	Touch Settings on the Garmin device
3.	Touch Wireless Networks
4.	If no check mark is present, check the box next to Bluetooth
5.	Touch Garmin Drive in the Garmin Drive App
6.	Touch Continue, if prompted
7.	Touch Enable, if prompted
8.	The app will begin searching for the device.
9.	Touch Yes on the Garmin device, if prompted
10.	Touch OK in the Garmin Drive App, if prompted
10.	Touch Sign In. If you don't have an account touch Create Account
11.	Enter your Email and Password and touch Next

Once this initial pairing has been completed, the Garmin Drive App will automatically communicate with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.

Confirming traffic service

After your device and phone have been connected via the Garmin Drive App, live traffic service should begin automatically.
