How to Activate a GPSMAP 67i in the Garmin Messenger App

NOTE: This article is intended for users who have not yet activated an inReach subscription for their GPSMAP 67i. If you have already activated an inReach subscription for the device, see - Pairing a GPSMAP 67i With the Garmin Messenger App.

Before you can use the messaging and SOS functions on an inReach device, you must create an account and activate a service plan for it. If you are having issues logging into your inReach account or creating a new account, see Related .

IMPORTANT

• The software on the GPSMAP 67i must be up to date before it can be used with the Garmin Messenger app. For instructions, see - Updating the Software on Your GPSMAP 67i.
• You cannot add additional users to Personal Plan inReach accounts. To have multiple users with assigned devices on a single account, you need a Professional Flex Plan.
• Activation fees are non-refundable. Read and view the following before starting to set up your account - Difference Between inReach Personal and Professional Plans. Pick the plan that is best for your usage.
• The GPSMAP 67i cannot be activated using the Garmin Messenger app for professional accounts. If you need to activate the device on a professional account, see - Setting Up a New inReach Professional Account.
• If you already have an inReach account and need to move your service from your old device to the 67i, follow the steps in Transferring Existing inReach Service to Another inReach Device before using the Garmin Messenger app.

Pairing and Activating a GPSMAP 67i

If you are activating a brand new device, proceed with the steps below. If you have an inReach device that was acquired second-hand, it may need to be reset before proceeding with these steps. To reset the device, see How to Reset the GPSMAP Handheld Devices.

1. Setting up the Garmin Messenger App

1. Installez et ouvrez l'application Garmin Messenger.
2. Autorisez les autorisations de l'application lorsque vous y êtes invité.
3. Appuyez sur Démarrer.
4. Sélectionnez Créer un compte, puis saisissez votre nom, votre adresse électronique et un mot de passe, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
   
   • REMARQUE : Si vous possédez déjà un compte Garmin ou si vous avez déjà utilisé d'autres applications Garmin telles que Garmin Connect ou Garmin Explore, vous pouvez sélectionner  Se connecter (ou Continuer comme ['nom d'utilisateur'], si vous y êtes invité).
5. Suivez les instructions pour vérifier votre numéro de téléphone mobile, confirmez la lecture du contrat de licence de l'utilisateur final, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
   • REMARQUE : Si vous utilisez un VPN sur votre téléphone, il peut être nécessaire de le désactiver temporairement au cours de cette étape car ce dernier peut empêcher l'application d'envoyer le code de vérification à votre numéro de téléphone mobile. Le VPN pourra être réactivé une fois que vous aurez terminé de configurer l'application.
6. Saisissez le code de vérification envoyé à votre numéro de téléphone mobile.
7. Sélectionnez Suivant et suivez les instructions pour accepter les autorisations.

2. Pairing the GPSMAP 67i

1. In the Garmin Messenger app, select the profile icon or  in the top left.
2. Select Pair.
3. Allow any app permissions when prompted.
4. When powering on the GPSMAP 67i for the first time, you will be prompted to select a language, then activate, and it will automatically start looking for the Garmin Messenger app. If you had skipped this on the device previously, you can enable pairing mode on the GPSMAP 67i by following these steps:
   1. From the main menu, select Setup.
   2. Select Bluetooth.
   3. Select Continue.
      
5. In the Garmin Messenger app, select Connect It and enter the 6 digit code from the GPSMAP 67i when prompted.

3. Activating an inReach Plan

REMARQUE : Les informations relatives à la carte de crédit ou de débit devront être fournies afin d'effectuer les étapes d'activation ci-dessous.

1. Après avoir effectué les étapes ci-dessus pour le couplage, sélectionnez Activer lorsque vous y êtes invité.
2. Sélectionnez le pays de votre adresse de facturation, lisez les conditions générales et la déclaration de confidentialité avant de les accepter, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
3. Saisissez vos informations personnelles, puis sélectionnez Suivant.

   • Les notes d'urgence sont un bon endroit pour ajouter des informations sur tout problème médical connu. Si vous disposez d'une couverture supplémentaire pour l'évacuation médicale ou la recherche et le sauvetage, vous pourrez l'inclure et indiquer comment contacter la compagnie qui fournit ce service. Exemple :
     

4. Ajoutez les informations relatives aux contacts d'urgence, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
   
5. Choisissez entre les abonnements mensuels et les abonnements annuels.
   • Pour plus d'informations sur les abonnements, consultez - les abonnements inReach pour particuliers.
6. Sélectionnez un abonnement spécifique dans la catégorie mensuelle ou annuelle, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
7. Étape SOS :
   • Passez en revue les prestations SOS incluses, puis cliquez sur Suivant.
   • Si vous le souhaitez, choisissez l’Assurance supplémentaire de recherche et de sauvetage (SAR). Ce n'est pas obligatoire. Une fois terminé, cliquez sur Suivant ou Continuer sans couverture.
8. Vérifiez toutes les informations saisies pour confirmer qu'elles soient correctes, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
9. Cochez la case pour accepter les conditions de l'abonnement inReach, puis sélectionnez Accepter.
10. Entrez vos informations de facturation, puis sélectionnez Suivant.
11. Suivez les instructions de l'application pour terminer l'activation de votre compte inReach.

Next, ensure that the inReach has a clear view of the sky or a connection to the Garmin Messenger app and wait for the activation to complete on the device.

Registering Your inReach

Your inReach is registered automatically during activation of service to the device, or adding it to your Garmin Explore account. 

The GPSMAP 67i can receive software updates through Garmin Express. Adding these devices to Garmin Express to update them will also register them. For more information, see - Updating the Software on Your GPSMAP 67i.
