Setting Up fēnix 3 Watches for Strength Training Activities
The fēnix® 3 series of watches are preloaded with many activity applications, but do not cover all possible activities. Custom activities, such as Strength Training1, can be created on the watch to capture the activity.
Creating a Strength Training Activity
- Hold the UP button to open the main menu
- Select Settings
- Select Apps
- Select + Add New
- Select Str. Training
- Choose a color
- Select Custom
- Select Strength
- Select Use Default
- Select GPS Off
- Select Edit Settings
- Set Data Screens
- Set Alerts
The custom Strength Training activity is now ready to use.
Suggested Data Screen setup for the Strength Training
- Screen 1: 2 Fields; Timer, Calories.
- For the fēnix 3 HR watch, or if a heart rate monitor is used: HR Gauge
These steps can be used for creating other custom activities, such as Ellipticals or Stair Climbers.
1The fēnix 3 and fēnix 3 HR watches do not support Strength Training Workouts created with the Garmin Connect™ app and do not contain a rep counting feature. Rather than creating sets they create laps in the activity. Laps are not part of Strength Training, so if you choose to add exercises to the activity in the Garmin Connect app the laps will be removed in lieu of sets.
