How to Add Aircraft to Garmin Pilot Including ICAO Information for Filing Flight Plans

To Add an Aircraft to the Garmin Pilot™ aviation app:

  1. Select the house icon on the top left of the app.

    • Or, tap on the word More with three dots on the bottom right of the app.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Aircraft.

  4. Select Add Aircraft on the bottom right side of the app.

For a newly added aircraft to get saved, all required information must be filled in.


To Only add the Aircraft to Garmin Pilot:

If given the option,
  1. Select Add Aircraft to Garmin Pilot only.  

  2. Select your aircraft.

  3. Select basic data: Performance, Weight & Balance, and Checklists (if available) from the Imported Components window.

  4. Review and confirm or edit the Main Fuel, Auxiliary Fuel, Empty Weight, and Empty CG.

  5. Press Done when finished.


To Import an Aircraft from FltPlan.com:

  1. A window will appear asking if you would like to import aircraft from Fltplan.com.

  2. Choose this option.

  3. After the aircraft has been successfully imported into Garmin Pilot from Fltplan.com, an option will be given for you to dismiss the message box.

The Edit Aircraft window will appear, or you will need to select your aircraft from the aircraft list.

  1. Scroll down and enter at a minimum all fields with the word Required printed in gray.

  2. For help with entering the correct ICAO codes for your aircraft, see Guidance for Completing ICAO-Based Flight Plans or watch the video below.

  3. Select the word Save at the top right of the window.
