My Golf Device Is Not Showing or Updating Weather Information

If your Garmin® golfing device is paired to the Garmin Golf™ app, it can display weather information during rounds of golf and in the weather widget, if your device has one. In order to get wind speed and direction data or air density, it must be paired with the Garmin Golf app. If you are not seeing weather information on your device or the data seems incorrect, check the troubleshooting below.

Common Troubleshooting Steps

Try each step below which should resolve most issues.

  • Power your phone and Garmin device off, then back on.

  • Confirm the Garmin device is paired and connected to the phone through the Garmin Golf app.

  • Start an outdoor activity and briefly step outdoors to acquire GPS signal.

  • Make sure the Garmin Golf app is open and/or running in the background. Force closing the app will result in missing weather data.

If your weather data works temporarily, but stops updating, you should also check the location permissions for your Garmin Golf app. Select an option below for steps on how to enable Location permissions.

Android

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.

  2. Select Apps

  3. Select the Garmin Golf app from the list.

  4. Select Permissions.

  5. Select Location.

  6. Select Allow all the time or Allow only while using the app.

    • If "Allow all the time" or "Allow only while using the app" is not an available option, toggle Location On.

    • For optimal results, enable Precise Location if available.

  9. Power your Garmin device off and back on.

  10. Open the Garmin Golf app.

  11. Sync your device.

The Garmin Golf app must remain open in the background in order for weather data to update on your device. If using "While Using the App" permission, in order for weather to update the Garmin Golf app must be open and showing on the phone.

The Weather Information is Incorrect or Not Current

Weather data is requested once every 20 minutes at most. Sync your device to refresh the most up to date weather data. Weather data can appear less accurate than the current conditions if it has not been updated recently. Make sure to leave the Garmin Golf app running in the background so the weather data can continue to refresh.

The Weather Information Doesn't Match the Weather App on My Smartphone

Weather information displayed on your device is collected from the closest official weather station and may be different than what displays in your weather app on your phone. Local airports will be the most common official weather stations.
