Exporting My Activity via .TCX or .GPX File Results in an Empty File

If a TCX or GPX file export downloads as an empty file or does not have all the data points, the activity may be too long for that file format. If this issue occurs you will need to download the original FIT file instead.

My Indoor Activity Results in an Empty File When Exported as a .GPX File

The GPX file format is designed specifically for saving GPS track, waypoint, and route data. Most Garmin fitness devices will disable GPS tracking on indoor activities by default, and these activities will not be compatible with the GPX file format. This will result in an empty file when exporting the activity from your Garmin Connect™ account, and importing the file into a third party platform can cause an error to occur. Exporting the activity as a FIT file is recommended if you would like to share your activity data, followed by the TCX format.
