Adding Route Points to an Existing Route in BaseCamp

There may be times when you need to add new route points to an existing route in the BaseCamp™ program.

On a Windows PC, this can only be done by creating a new route; then combining the two together. On a Mac you can create a new route off the existing route. Steps for both can be found below.


Windows

  1. Open Garmin BaseCamp program.
  2. Double click the existing route on the map.
  3. In the Route Details window, scroll to the bottom of the list of route points.
  4. Select the last point on the list.

  5. Click Route Creation Icon in the top toolbar.
  6. Create a new route from the last point of the existing route using the route drawing tool.
    NOTE: Close the new route window to start drawing.

  7. Select both routes in the routes list in My Collection.
    NOTE: To select both routes hold Ctrl on the keyboard then select both routes.
  8. Right click the selected Routes and select Join the Selected Routes.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Select Yes or No to delete the original routes.

Mac

  1. Open Garmin BaseCamp program.
  2. Double click the existing route on the map.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list of route points in the Route Details window.
  4. Select the last point on the list.

  5.   Select Route creation logo in the top toolbar. 
  6. Create a new route from the last point of the existing route using the route drawing tool.

    NOTE: New points will be added to the existing route.
