Garmin Sonar Readings Show Differently From One Panoptix LiveScope System to the Next

Often users compare the setup of sonar equipment, and it doesn't always look the same on display. Some settings are chartplotter specific, and others are sonar specific. Settings can differ between units and software versions. Below is a list of settings to look, compare and adjust. Local to Chartplotter


The following settings are unique to each chartplotter:

  • Zoom

  • Gain

  • Pause

  • Color Scheme

  • Color Gain

  • Trails

  • Grid Overlay

  • Scroll History

  • On screen control

  • Compress Range

  • Overlay Data


Local to the LiveScope™ system (GLS™ 10 sonar module)


When changed at the GLS 10 level, the following settings will affect all networked chartplotters with the GLS 10 selected as the LiveScope source. GLS settings are unique to each GLS 10 unit. 

  • Range

  • Transmit On / Off

  • TVG

  • Noise Reject

  • Install Depth

  • Stabilization

  • Compass Calibration

  • FOCUS

  • Restore Defaults**



*Overlay data setting affects all sonar pages on the chartplotter. 

** Restore Defaults resets the local chartplotter settings from the device that initiates the reset and resets the GLS 10 setting for all GLS 10 units on the network. But not any local settings on the other chartplotter.
